Sphaeromorphic algal cysts, most probably of the prasinophyte Tasmanites, and acanthomorphic acritarch vesicles, most probably Solisphaeridium, occur in a single 20 cm thick bed of micritic limestone in the lower part of the Middle Devonian (Givetian) Tully Formation near Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Specimens are composed of authigenic calcite and pyrite crystals about 5–10 µm in length. Abstract. The Moose River Basin is an intracratonic Paleozoic sedimentary basin underlying the James Bay Lowland of northeastern Ontario and containing strata ranging from Ordovician to Upper Devonian. Playford () described and superbly illustrated Late Devonian acritarchs from the Carnarvon Basin of Western Australia.

Try, D. Long, C. Winder. The extraordinary pyritised fossils of the Hunsrück Slate of Germany provide critical information on marine life in the Devonian.
Evidence for terrestrial life is confined mainly to rare incomplete plant macrofossils, often of uncertain affinity. The discovery of plant microfossils preserved as pyrite in-fills of cells with decay-resistant organic walls provides additional evidence of life on.

Moose River Basin, Ontario. Ottawa, Geological Survey of. The most notable spores and acritarchs and phycomates species were discussed in light of. 1. Introduction. Prasinophyte phycomata and acritarchs (hereafter collectively termed microphytoplankton) from the Middle Devonian deposits of northern Spain have received very limited study, having only brief mentions in two papers predominantly focused on land–plant spores (Cramer,Fombella Blanco, ).This is in spite of the rock formations themselves being otherwise well.

The Devonian (/ d ɪ ˈ v oʊ. n i. ən, d ə- d ɛ-/ dih-VOH-nee-ən, də- deh-) is a geologic period and system of the Paleozoic, spanning 60 million years from the end of the Silurian, million years ago (Mya), to the beginning of the Carboniferous, Mya.
It is named after Devon, England, where rocks from this period were first studied. The first significant adaptive radiation.

A rich and well-preserved palynomorph assemblage from the Middle Devonian of northern Spain is analysed with regard to palaeobiogeography and palaeocontinental reconstruction.
The communities of terrestrial plants (dispersed spores), marine zooplankton (chitinozoans) and marine phytoplankton (acritarchs and prasinophytes) all show significant endemism. The geologic time scale (GTS) is a system of chronological dating that classifies geological strata (stratigraphy) in is used by geologists, paleontologists, and other Earth scientists to describe the timing and relationships of events that once occurred, which also allows them to accurately file the times when different creatures were fossilised and may lives in, after carbon dating.b Lower Middle Devonian proetid trilobites from Michigan, southwestern Ontario, and northern Ohio.
